Here we are in Salt Lake City with a terrific group of researchers from as far away as Australia and as close as Ogden, Utah.

This morning Judy informed us that she had broken through a brick wall with help from a book that had been submitted back in 1965 with complete sources! She is excited to check them thoroughly and move on to the next brick wall.

We have taught everyone how to save copies to their “Flash Drives” especially the Family History Library favorites with links to some of the best research sites on the planet. We were surprised to find that Stephen P. Morse’s site was not listed! Not to dispair, we will be submitting details to have that updated as soon as possible. For those of you not familiar with Steve’s site visit it at stephenmorse.com and let us know what you think.

Well, I’m back to helping our guests find more ancestors! Have a super great day and we hope to see you at an upcoming event soon!

Wow, what a fun time we had in Cheyenne last weekend!

We left Croydon around 10:00 AM Thursday morning and had a delightful drive to Cheyenne. We managed to make it through the high winds pulling our trailer. Rounding the bend to see Cheyenne in the distance about 6:00 PM. At that moment we knew the meaning of “Magic City of the Plains.”

There before our eyes we saw rays of the sun breaking through the clouds shining down on Cheyenne. It was a truly beautiful site and we knew our Jamboree was going to be a good one!

Friday morning we had 250 excited people buzzing around the conference getting registered, finalizing vendors booths, and guiding visitors through the maze at the Hitching Post Inn.

Saturday evening everyone was smiling after the smorgasbord of more than 60 classes to choose from, over 100 door prizes to win (all donated by vendors and local Cheyenne businesses). Grand prize drawings awarded were:a 4 night stay at the Crystal Inn in Salt Lake City, 1 World Deluxe Subscription from Ancestry.com and One Week at the Family History Library with My Ancestors Found professionals at our upcoming Research Retreat.

Grace Barbour went into shock when she realized her Entry Card was selected for the Research Retreat in Salt Lake City Nov 13-18, 2006! We thought we might have to dial 911. But she recovered enough to come pick up her certificate and show it to admiring friends and attendees.

This was a really fun event and it was interesting to meet attendees from Wyoming as well as, Colorado, Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Utah, and Connecticut!

We all enjoyed getting to know DearMYRTLE and Beau Sharbrough a little better.

If you were there, THANKS for coming, if not we hope to see you at our next event!

It takes a few days — OK, it’s been a week — to unwind from one of our conferences, but I’m sure some of you would like a report. We were very pleased with our Ogden Conference last weekend. We weren’t sure what to expect since nothing like this had ever been attempted in Ogden, but the crowds came and the classes were well attended. Our guests couldn’t say enough about how great the classes were. The exhibit hall was hopping between classes, too. People are always amazed at how much they can learn by visiting the booths.

We estimate that somewhere around 850 people in all came to the event. It was especially fun to note that many of them (maybe 500 or so) had never attended a major conference before. Our vendors and speakers do such a magnificant job — you just can’t help but feel the excitement they generate. We’ve been overrun with requests to do it again next year and plans are already underway.

The “Remember the Tears” performance was awesome! We received many heartfelt thanks for helping to provide it, but the credit goes to the cast and crew. What a great opportunity we had to feel of their spirits - not to mention those whose stories were told.

We’ll be leaving in less than a week for Cheyenne, Wyoming for our next conference. The people there seem really receptive to something new and exciting. We can’t wait to meet them!

I almost forgot to tell you that Holly was interviewed on Good Things Utah yesterday (Salt Lake Channel 4). She told about her young start in genealogy and plugged our Northern Utah Conference. She was great! She told me before that she was mostly concerned that she would smile enough, so when I was watching I was saying to myself, “Smile, Holly, smile!” My husband looked at me funny and said, “She’s doing just fine.” He didn’t know I was just trying to send some positive vibes her way.
